Andrew Huang
Andrew Huang, age 12, is a 7th grade student at Lee Burnerson Middle School in Westlake Ohio. He began studying piano at the age of 5 and currently studies with Ms. Shulamite Konopinski. Andrew has received a rating of Unanimous Superior consecutive times at the annual National Federation of Music Clubs’ Festival in Cleveland and has performed in their Honors Recital in March 2015 and 2018. He is chosen as an Honorable Mention Winner (Young Musicians Category) of American Protégé International Piano & Strings Competition 2016 and performed in Carnegie Hall on July 3, 2016. He won the Second Prize of the Great Composers Competitions The Music of America on March 8, 2017, Third Prize of The Music of 19th Century on May 8, 2016 and Best Chopin Performance on March 1, 2017. He is chosen as an Honorable Mention Winner of the 2017 Northeast Ohio Music Teachers Association Buckeye Auditions (Elementary Piano Division) on April 23, 2017. He also won the Frist Prize for the 6th Grade group of Junior Fortnightly 6th-9th-11th Grade Awards on April 30, 2017. Andrew is very passionate about music and enjoys performing at any opportunity. He has performed a number of times at Junior Fortnightly recitals, senior houses and other public places, as well as talent shows and concerts held at both his school and other local high schools. In addition, Andrewalso plays violin, trumpet and guitar and has been joining the school Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra and Choir for years. Other interests he has include singing, sports, playing video games and mathematics. In the future, Andrew would like to be a singer, a doctor, a computer engineer, or a pianist.
