My name is Andrew Kim and I was born in Ryde, Australia on the 4th December 2000. I currently attend Trinity Grammar School with a full music scholarship and serve as Vice-Captain of Music. I started playing clarinet in 2011, hoping to be able to achieve an all-round scholarship through academics, swimming and music. I began swimming when I was around 3 years old to learn basic lifestyle skills that my parent’s thought was essential to me. Up until now, I am grateful that they had made me swim, as my perseverance and competitive spirit roots from these past experiences. When it comes to music, I have one several awards in the Ryde and Sydney Eisteddfod from the past 6 years as an annual competitor. All of these achievements would not exist today if it wasn’t for my teacher Deborah De Graaff, who has guided over me since 2013, bringing out the full potential of my musicality and clarinet playing up until now. I would like to specially thank my family and friends who have supported me even through the very difficult times of my life as they showed me that: “ A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.“
I hope to achieve greater feats as an individual to help make the world a better place.
