James Lacey, III
James Lacey, III is 9 years old and is from South Pasadena, California. He has been studying the cello since he was 5 years old under the guidance of Vardan Gasparyan. In 2017, James was a Regional Winner in the Southern California Junior Bach Festival and selected to advance to the Complete Works Audition where he placed third overall in solo cello. In 2018, James debuted at Carnegie Hall as a soloist and first prize winner of the American Protégé International Music Talent competition where he also earned the Judges’ Distinction Trophy. He also performed at Carnegie Hall in 2018 as a soloist and winner of the American Fine Arts Festival’s International Romantic Music Competition. James is a 2018 scholarship recipient of the Los Angeles Violoncello Society and a member of the Cello Choir at the Colburn School in Los Angeles. When James is not playing the cello, he can be found on the soccer and baseball fields across Southern California.
