Melissa Britton
Melissa Joy (MJ) Britton is 23 years old. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance at Delta State University, where she studied with Drs. Mary Lenn Buchanan, Chad Payton, and Laurissa Backlin. She is now attending Austin Peay State University, where she is earning her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Williams. She is actively involved at First United Methodist Church in Hopkinsville, Kentucky where she interns in the Music Ministry. Upon graduation, she plans to teach private voice, vocal literature classes, and introduction to music history at the community college level for a few years before earning her Doctorate in Musical Arts. Her most recent roles were The Sorceress in APSU Opera’s production of Dido and Aeneas and Fantine (from Les Miserables) in a startup musical theatre cabaret lovingly entitled “Everybody Dies.”
