Nathaniel Yue, 11 has been studying cello with Vardan Gasparyan since 2013. Under the guidance of Mr. Gasparyan he had the honor of performing at Carnegie Hall and Musikverein in Vienna. In the summers of 2017 and 2018, he attended Meadowmount School of Music to study with Jonathan Koh. Nathaniel has also attended Montecito International Music Festival as a merit scholarship recipient in 2016 and 2017, where he has studied with Robert deMaine and Ko Iwasaki. He also enjoys being an ensemble member at the Colburn Ed and Mari Edelman Chamber Music Institute and Junior Chamber Musicians. Nathaniel currently plays on a cello on loan from Georg Eittinger of Hans Weisshaar Violin Makers and Restorers of San Marino.
Because of the generosity bestowed to him by teachers and mentors, Nathaniel is very enthusiastic about giving back to the community. He has participated in Bach in the Subways Los Angeles 2017 and 2018. For over two years, he has appeared regularly at Evergreen Baptist Church Los Angeles and at the CAPS Alzheimer’s day center in Pasadena, CA. When he is not playing music, he enjoys competing in the First Lego League, biking, doing outdoor activities and playing video games with family and friends.
