I have been playing flute for about six years now. I started when I was in fifth grade, and I have continued since then, taking private lessons from seventh to tenth grade with Bonnie Arnestad. In those years, I have participated in not only my band, but also in Everett Youth Symphony Orchestras as the principal flutist in both Concert Orchestra and Chamber Winds. In my high-school years, I have also performed with the Cascade Youth Symphony's Junior Orchestra as the principal flutist and piccolist as well. I have performed as the principal flutist/piccolist of the Mariner High School Wind Ensemble for the Festival of Gold in Washington D.C. last year and the Festival of Gold in San Francisco in my freshman year. I have earned superior ratings at Regional SKMEA Solo/Ensemble festivals. Since the end of tenth grade, I have been taking private lessons with Mary MacRae. Recently, I have earned second place in the PAFE Northwest Competition in the Woodwind Solo Division in my age group as well as the Great Competition Series: The Music of Europe Competition in Music of Mediterranean Europe in the woodwind category for 14-16 years old division. I am excited to continue lessons with Mary MacRae, and I hope to study flute as a profession in the future.
